I think that word sums up my day: finally!
Finally I got some sleep last night. Which was excellent. Except the whole waking up around 8 this morning. And by one o'clock I had a terrible headache (caffeine withdrawl??).
Finally I took time to listen to some Copland music to work on my research paper. Granted, it wasn't all the music, and I didn't take notes and I was listening while walking the dog.
Finally I watched the Keeping Score DVD about Copland again and took down more notes, more general things this time about what to look for in his music that created "The American Sound". Once again, for the extended essay. (FYI- my question is "To what extent does the music of Aaron Copland created the "American Sound"?)
Finally I was able to find a book that contained the full score of Billy the Kid, 4 Dance Scenes from Rodeo and Appalachian Spring (full orchestra) all in one book for less than $100! In fact, it was $26.37 from Amazon.com. And I love them for that.
Finally I found some good practice reeds.
Finally I've gotten the ridiculously fast ending of my All-State solo to a managable level.
Okay, so basically a lot of band geeky stuff. But it was stuff that needed to be done. And I did it. Which is a very good thing.
